Speed dating gives you an even shorter time to make an impression. As an alternative dating technique, it can be a lot of fun. You sit opposite someone and you each have a few minutes to tell the other about yourself. Then, you move on to the next table and so on. If someone bored you to tears, it doesn't matter, it's all over very quickly. At the end of the evening, you pick out anyone that caught your fancy and go from there. There's no pressure and if you don't meet anyone you clicked with, you can go to the next session.

Many women are concerned about safety and the perils of trying to hook up with someone that you don't know. A recent alternative dating idea addresses those safety issues in a most inventive way. There are agencies that run dinner parties, usually for between twelve and sixteen people. Single people go along and they are given the chance to meet other singles in a very relaxed, informal setting. The idea is to put people at ease and have a pleasant evening. You can mingle, not spending too much time with any one person if you don't want to. After the dinner and chit chat, you can arrange to meet someone again if they are agreeable. Alternative dating is meeting the needs of modern singles and is here to stay.
